Islamabad: Majority of Pakistani living in urban Pakistan thinking that “the rural side of the country less developed that objective reality”.
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, city dwellers of Pakistan view their rural areas to be less developed than objective reality.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, which types of roofs on houses are prevalent in Rural Pakistan?”
Responding to the question 43% of Urban Pakistanis think houses with traditional roofs are prevalent, 26% think houses with semi-developed roofs are prevalent and 21% think houses with developed roof tops are prevalent.
However, 10% did not give a response. While actual data from Mouza Statistics 2008 states that houses with traditional roofs only make up 29% of houses in rural areas, houses with semi developed roofs make up 53% of houses and houses with developed roofs make up 18% of houses in rural areas.
The results show majority of Urban Pakistanis underestimate the quality of housing in Rural Pakistan.
