Geneva: United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Wednesday condemned the attack on 14-year old peace activist Malala Yousafzai.
Malala was shot outside her school in Swat on Tuesday and was later flown to the Combined Military Hospital where her condition was described as critical.
The Pakistani Taliban claimed the attack in a series of telephone calls to reporters and then issued a strongly-worded statement justifying the attack on a child on the grounds that Malala had preached secularism “and so-called enlightened moderation”.
The secretary general said that the criminals involved in the attack should be brought to justice as soon as possible.
He hoped that that the 14 year old would soon recover from her wounds.
