Colombo: After a humiliating defeat by India in the second match of super eight rounds of Twenty20 World Cup 2012, the Pakistan cricket team will play its ‘do or die’ match against Australia on Tuesday at R. Premadasa Stadium cricket stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Pakistani team need nothing less than a win against a team which they had defeated in the last series at Abu Dhabi by 2-1.
Although Australia is undefeated in the world cup but the thing which favours Pakistan is their strong spin attack, which created trouble for Australia in the last series.
Having four world class spinners Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Raza Hassan and Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistani team would mostly rely on its spinners. Umar Gul, Abdul Razzaq and Yasir Arafat would probably be responsible for the pace department.
Pakistan would be very concerned about their batting line as it had failed to deliver in the last two matches against South Africa and India. In both matches, except 41 runs from Umar Akmal and Umar Gul’s 32 runs on 17 balls against South Africa, no other batsmen has crossed 40’s in the two matches.
On the other hand, although the Australian team is performing well in the tournament but it should be remembered that Aussies all-rounder Shane Watson had shared the most of his part in the wins. The star all-rounder was awarded Man of the Match for last consecutive four matches.
The other Australian players which could create problems for Pakistan include, Mike Hussey, David Warner and George Bailey in the batting department while in bowling department Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Xavier Doherty and Brad Hogg can hurt Pakistan’s aim to qualify for the semifinals.
Millions of people belonging to India, Pakistan, South Africa and Australia are eagerly waiting for the match which would decide the fate of the four teams present in the Group 2, commonly known as death pool.
