Karachi: The government has permitted several Sunni outfits to take out a rally against anti-Islam film. According to a Sunni Tehreek (ST) spokesman ST chief Sarwat Ijaz Qadri contacted Sindh governor Ishratul Ebad.
He appealed to the citizens of Karachi to attend the rally to express their love for the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The government on Friday banned public gatherings, processions and rallies in Karachi on security grounds a day before several organizations, belonging to Barelvi school of thought, announced to take out a peaceful rally against the anti-Islam film.
Local media reports Saturday morning that strict security arrangements have been made for the rally as the government granted permission for the rally.
A large number of security personnel have been deployed on Karachi’s main artery M.A Jinnah Road.
Pakistan saw a wave of violent protests against the US made hate film that also sparked protests across the Muslim world.
