Colombo: The low rank Australian team Friday crushed India by nine wickets in super eight round of the Twenty20 World Cup 2012, played at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Australian batsmen easily chased a target of 141 runs for the loss of only one wicket with five overs to spare. Shane Watson 72, remained the leading run-scorer for Australia accompanied by Warner 63.
The Indian bowlers seemed helpless against the outstanding Australian batting and Instead of using eight bowlers; Yuvrag Singh was the lone bowler to take the single wicket.
Earlier, the strong Indian batting line failed to set a reasonable target and got out at 140 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Irfan Pathan, who scored 31 runs, was the most successful batsman for India. Shane Watson send three Indian batsmen to pavilion while Cummins took two wickets.
