Security beefed up across Pakistan amid protests after Friday prayers

Islamabad: Pakistani government, after experiencing violent protests against anti-Islam film across the country during last Friday, has now decided to step up security measures outside the US embassy and consulates across the country.

According to Islamabad police, section 144 of the constitution has been implemented in the city in order maintain law and order and restrict political, religious and other organisations to stage protests against the film.

The Islamabad police placed barricades and containers on the ways leading to the diplomatic enclave, where embassies of foreign countries like United States, France and United Kingdom reside.

The security measurements were also steeped up in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar. Heavy contingents of Rangers and Police were deployed on the ways leading to US consulates.

It is to be mentioned here that at least 25 people were killed in the violent protest across country. Aggravated people torched cinemas, shops and police vans during the protests.
