Peshawar: Shakil Afridi’s lawyer Sartaj Khan Thursday rejected the interview claimed by Fox News and said that his client had not given any interview to International media.
Fox News published an interview of imprisoned Shakil Afridi, allegedly involved in tracing al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden through a fake polio vaccination. According to US television, Afridi told the reporter that the ISI considers America as Pakistan’s “worst enemy”.
The news channel further claimed that its correspondent had conducted the interview in the Peshawar Centre Jail, and quoted Dr Afridi as saying that he suffered “brutal interrogation and torture” when arrested. Afridi also accused ISI of funding militants during the interview.
Speaking to media representatives after the hearing of the case in Commissioner Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR’s) office in Peshawar, the attorney of Afridi Sartaj Khan said that there was some conspiracy against his client and Afridi was wrongly accused of speaking to international media.
He said that increased restrictions on his client were not justified.
The lawyer informed that due to incomplete panel of the lawyers, the hearing of the case has been postponed until October 25.
