Islamabad: Balochistan former Chief Minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Thursday recorded his statement before the Supreme Court of Pakistan bench hearing Balochistan law and order case in Islamabad.
The three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.
In his statement in the case, Mengal said that the kidnapping of his brother Asad Ullah Mengal in 1976 was the first incident of disappearance in the province. “Till now, I don’t know where he is or his grave.”
“Desperation is a sin…we have tested all the institutions in missing persons case and consider any hope from these institution as biggest sin,” Mengal said. “We came in the court today because it has given us a little hope after 65 years.”
The court has also sought answer from President, Prime Minister, ISI and MI chiefs after Mengal’s statement.
The chief justice directed the authorities to register FIR of every missing person, adding that the judges of high court would hear the cases.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
