Islamabad: Pakistan Attorney General Irfan Qadir on Wednesday insisted that President Asif Ali Zardari has immunity from prosecution in old corruption cases.
The AG, while talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court before the hearing of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case, said that the whole atmosphere would be changed today, adding that they want no confrontation with the apex court.
Pakistan’s prime minister had told the Supreme Court that the government would comply with a longstanding demand to reopen an old corruption case against the president, defusing a conflict that has roiled the country’s political system and led to the ouster of the last premier.
