Ankara: Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has cancelled his visit to the US where he was to attend a UN General Assembly meeting on September 22-25.
The PM cancelled the visit citing hectic work schedule and an upcoming annual congress of his party, AJK, on September 30.
Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul had been scheduled to attend the UN assembly but cancelled due to an ear infection.
Erdogan, who was travelling in Gul’s place, was expected to give a speech at the assembly in New York. The meeting is expected to discuss the crisis in Turkey’s neighbour Syria among other issues, Reuters reported.
