Peshawar: A van driver of a Pakistani private TV channel was killed when police opened fire to disperse crowd protesting against anti-Islam film here on Friday morning.
Sources said that bullets fired by police hit the Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) vehicle of ARY TV covering the protests. As a result, Mohammad Amir sitting in the driving seat of the vehicle received a bullet in his chest and was shifted to hospital, where he expired. The deceased had been associated with the ARY TV since 2007.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has condemned the incident and ordered inquiry into the matter.
Separately, a cop was injured in clashes between police and protesters in Peshawar.
