Washington: United States (US) Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday applauded the efforts made by Pakistan in order to secure US embassy and consulates across Pakistan during violent protests against anti-Islam film on Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (S.A.W).
At least 19 people including policemen and political workers were killed and more than 170 injured during the protests across Pakistan against the anti-Islam film.
Speaking to media after meeting Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar, Hillary said that there was no reason of violent protests against the film.
“Violence will not be tolerated,” she said.
“Militants are joint enemy of Pakistan and US,” the US secretary said adding that the US wanted to jointly work with Pakistan in order to culminate terrorism from the region.
On the occasion, the Pakistani foreign minister said that Pakistan and US were going through a bad phase of relationship during past 18 months but the ties were now becoming better.
“Afghanistan is a challenge for Pakistan and US,” she said adding that the people of Afghanistan should decide their fate.
