Quetta: Unidentified armed men on Friday gunned down Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation when he was going to attend proceeding of Balochistan law and order case at Quetta registry of Pakistan Supreme Court.
Police and rescue sources said that the assailants riding motorbikes attacked SP Jamil Kakar at Airport Road as soon as SP Jamil Kakar left his house with his guard in his car. They added that Kakar died on the spot, while his guard sustained injuries in the incident.
Police and investigation agencies rushed to spot and shifted his body to to Combined Military Hospital.
Due to the sensitive nature of his job, Kakar received numerous death threats. Police officials say that investigations are being carried out.
The deceased police official was posted at Barori Road Police Station in Quetta as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Kakar was later promoted to the post of SP and was transferred to Saryab Road Police Station.
