Quetta: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has expressed displeasure over the absence of Attorney General of Pakistan Irfan Qadir despite the apex court orders during the hearing of Balochistan unrest case on Tuesday.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, continued the hearing of the petition filed by the Balochistan Bar Association on Balochistan law and order situation at the Quetta registry the court.
During the hearing, the chief justice expressed displeasure over the AG’s absence despite the apex court’s order and said that it seems that federation and the AG are not interested in the issue.
The court directed all the six secretaries to appear before the bench on every hearing of case.
Talal Bugti, Akbar Bugti’s son and Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief, was also present in the court during the hearing.
The chief justice remarked that resolving the issue in Dera Bugti was crucial to establishing peace in the province at large.
“Travelling to Dera Bugti in the presence of FC will be suicidal,” Talal replied.
The chief secretary said that measures were being taken to ensure peace in the area, upon which the chief justice gave directives for including Nawab Bugti’s family in the voters’ list.
At one point during the hearing, the CJ inquired about the doctors’ strike and directed the representative of the doctors to end their strike.
The representative of the court told the court that they would end the strike.
