Rimsha Masih case: Prayer leader Khalid Jadoon sent to jail

Islamabad: A local magistrate court on Sunday handed over Khalid Jadoon, the prayer leader who allegedly fabricated evidences against an accused Christine girl for blasphemy, to Adiala police on 14 days judicial remand.

Jadoon, who was arrested by the police for fabricating the evidence against Rimsha Masih on Saturday night, was produced before judicial magistrate Nasr Manullah Baloch in high security.

Jadoon denied all the accusation and said that he had not fabricated with the evidences. He said that the administration was hitching conspiracy against him.

Earlier, Jadoon while talking to media denied the allegation leveled against him saying Rimsha is an accused and she will remain as an accused of blasphemy.

The police arrested Jadoon after Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, the eyewitness, revealed in a statement before the magistrate that he (Jadoon) changed the evidence against Rimsha Masih by putting holly verses in ash.

Tahir Ashrafi, the religious scholar, has also demanded the President to release the accused girl and provide her security. He also asked the Ulema to suggest punishment for Imams  (prayer leaders) like Khalid Jadoon.

On Saturday, the parents of Rimsha, who is also in judicial custody for 14-day, filed an application in Islamabad’s local court seeking permission to change their counsel.

Ashrafi has demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry, to take a suo moto notice of this case.
