Abu Dhabi: Taking revenge of 1st ODI defeat, Pakistan cricket team Saturday defeated Australia by seven wickets in the second One Day International played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The host team easily chased a reasonable target of 248 runs set by Australia for the loss of three wicket and seven overs to spare. Pakistan opening pair, Hafeez-Jamshed, provided a vital stand of 66 runs followed by a brilliant partnership of 101runs between Jamshed and Azhar Ali.
Nasir Jamshed, who scored 97 runs remained the leading run-scorer for Pakistan, accompanied by Azhar Ali 59, Misbah-ul-Haq 35 and Hafeez 23 runs.
The Australian bowlers tried their level best to bowl out Pakistani team but did not succeed in their attempt. Pattison, Johnson and Christian were the three bowlers who shared one wicket each.
Earlier, the decision of batting first by Australian captain Michael Clarke was proved right by the sensible Aussies batting against the strong Pakistan spin attack. Michael Hussey, who scored 61 runs, remained the leading run scorer from Australian side, followed by Bailey 39, Clarke 37, Maxwell 28 and Warner 24.
Instead of expensive Pakistani pace attack, the spinners once again played their brilliant role in restricting the Aussies to a reasonable total of 249 runs. Saeed Ajmal was once again brilliant as he sent four Australian players to their dressing room followed by Junaid Khan who took 3 wickets, out of which two of them in his last over. Abdul Rehman and Mohammad Hafeez shared one wicket each.
The series has been levelled 1-1 with one match remaining. Let’s see who will win the next match to seal the trophy of the ODI series.
