Jamshoro: A high-level meeting was convened in the University of Sindh to review the law and order situation at the campus including hostels on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. Nazir A. Mughal.
The meeting discussed the several relevant issues which include vigilant check at the main gate of hostels, checking of hostel cards and security arrangements at the campus including main entrances.
The Registrar, Mohammad Nawaz Narejo, Dean Students Affairs Asad Shaikh, Director Students Affairs Khalid Noor Panhwar, Provost Hostel Ghulam Ali Jareko, Transport officer Sajjad Shah, Advisor to vice chancellor Zahoor Ahmed Afghan, Director Admission Bashir Ali Shaikh, Professor Dr. Siddique Kalhoro, students’ welfare officer Khalid Mirani and others attended the meeting.
The meeting decided that vigilant check will be observed at main gate of hostels including check of hostel cards. The meeting also decided that police and rangers will be deployed at both main entrances which will be coordinated by senior officials and a clerk will be deputed there to make entries of those coming inside the university. Besides, an attendance register will also be maintained at the both main entrances so that no any security personnel could remain absent from his duty.
In the meeting the issue of students point buses was discussed and decided that these buses to be stopped in the area reserved for parking at Allama I.I Qazi road and after a thorough checking the students will be able to rush to their departments where as surprise visits at the parking area will be paid to ensure the complete checking process of those coming to university by point buses.
The meeting decided that metal detectors will be installed outside main buildings to ensure that no any arm could be carried out inside by any student and all the roads to be kept closed to foil any attempt to be entered inside the university premises illegally.
The committee also proposed to appoint a Director level official for security affairs who will be given responsibility of tackling with the security matters to maintain law and order, which was approved by the vice chancellor.
It is also decided that visitors who want to come to get certificates or with some other work to Ac-II, will have to use the main gate of Marvi Hostel by a meticulous check and they would be bound to prove their proper identity sans any argument with security personnel where as the students could use only Sindhology main gate to entre university premises by wearing their identity cards of the university over there neck for which they have been issued cards along with ribbons earlier.
The vice chancellor told that overwhelming facilities have been provided in the hostels so that students residing therein may not fall on evil times. On this Dr. Mughal expressed pleasure and directed the authorities to provide every possible facility to the students in order that they might reside and study smoothly.
Speaking with the participants, the vice chancellor Dr. Nazir A. Mughal said no compromise to be made in matters of security and it should be ensured that no any insider could enter for wrong objectives to create any problems.
“Such elements who want to deteriorate academic process should be kept outside the university premises and for this an active eye must be kept on them”, Dr. Mughal ordered the authorities by adding that no security lapse in this regard would be tolerated.
