Townsville: Australia U-19 cricket team on Sunday defeated Bangladesh in first quarterfinal of International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup by 5 wickets.
Australia won the toss and decided to field first. Bangladesh’s opener Soumya Sarkar was top scorer with 73 runs while opener Litton Das made 22. Bangladesh was all out for 171 (43.0 overs) runs.
Australia’s Travis Head took 3 wickets for 30 runs.
In reply, Australia’s top order collapsed but skipper William Bosisto played a brilliant knock of 71 runs and remained not out while middle order batsman Travis Head made 44 runs. Australia accomplished the target for the loss of 5 wickets in 45.5 overs.
Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed got 2 wickets.
