Jeddah: Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz said that the violence that is claiming Muslim lives across the globe was due to division of the Islamic world.
He expressed these views while addressing the summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), held in Mecca — the birthplace of Islam.
“Because of division, the blood of the Muslim nation is shedding,” King Abdullah said the summit’s opening speech.
The king called for cooperation between Muslim states as a way to safeguard “the dignity and history of Muslims.”
He also called for the establishment of a center of dialogue between Islamic doctrines.
The extraordinary meeting of OIC convened by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, commenced in the holy place of Mecca, here on Tuesday.
King Abdullah along with Iranian President Mahmood Ahmadinejad welcomed guests and representatives of different countries.
The issue of Syrian President Bashar-al-Assad suppressing popular uprising and killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar would top among the issues to be discussed in the meeting.
