Brisbane: Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team on Saturday defeated Sri Lanka by 25 runs in a first match of ICC U-19 world cup.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh’s Anamul Haque scored a dazzling century of 101 facing 127 balls and Asif Ahmed, 84, helped the country to set a good target of 249 runs for 7 wickets. Sri Lanka’s VS de Mel took three wickets for 46 runs.
In Reply, Sri Lanka’s AJADDLA Jayasinghe with 83 runs and LD Madushanka with 48 were the only players to stand against Bangladeshi bowlers. Lankans was bowled for 224 runs in 50 overs.
Bangladeshi bowler Soumya Sarkar took three wickets for 10.
