Islamabad: National Assembly’s standing committee on Anti-Narcotics has recommended closure of wine shops in Karachi. But, one of the members Lal Khan opposed it saying the wine is better than heroin and hashish and the ban or restriction on alcohol might cause increase in use of substandard liquor and other narcotics.
Committee member Wasim Akhtar told the committee that wine traders had close links with police and high officials of other institutions.
The NA body was also told that all the record pertaining to ephedrine scam was seized by the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF).
