Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday issued show cause notice for contempt to Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in NRO implementation and directed him to appear before the apex court personally on August 27.
A five-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Aijaz Afzal and Justice Aijaz Chaudhry resumed the hearing of the case.
During today’s hearing, the Attorney General Irfan Qadir sought more time from the court saying he was busy in the proceeding of contempt of court law.
He said that he would try his best to find out midway to resolve the issue. He said that distance between both the institutions will hopefully reduce.
The Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had failed to comply with the apex court’s July 12 order to write letter to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, the bench said in the order.
During the last hearing on July 25th, the court directed Attorney General to find some solution.
However, court made it clear to him that the letter should be written to the Swiss authorities.
The hearing of the NRO implementation case was adjourned till January 19.
