Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Judge Justice Khilji Arif Hussain while hearing the multiple petitions against new contempt of court law has remarked that many words of contempt are not included in the new act.
The five-member bench of the apex court head by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry comprises Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani continued hearing the case on Friday.
During today’s hearing, Justice Khilji remarked that the words like Denigration, scandalized, contempt and judicial judge had not been written in the act.
Irfan Qadir, the Attorney General, who continued his argument, said that the few words were used as substitute while some gives same meaning in the act.
“Attorney General you had said that every comma and full stop has meaning and every word has objective,” Justice Khilji observed.
