Islamabad: A five member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday resumed hearing of the petitions against the Contempt of Court Act 2012.
The apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comprises Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani was hearing case.
 During today’s hearing, the petitioners’ lawyers continued their arguments in the case. In the previous hearing, the SC had directed them to conclude their arguments today.
Attorney General Irfan Qadir will begin his arguments in defence of the contempt act today.
Earlier on Friday, the CJ had remarked that they had concerns over the parliamentary debate as references from the Constitution were not given by the lawmakers. He added that apparently the law was made to provide protection to few people.
