Lahore: Najam Sethi, host of a political chat show ‘Aapas Ki Baat’, has been broadcasting from his home as he fears he may be killed because of his public criticism in the programme of Pakistan army and the ISI, The Guardian reports.
Sethi has been more concerned about his and his family’s life after he told his audience after the May 2 raid that Pakistan must have been “complicit or incompetent” during Osama bin Laden stay in the country.
Sethi said he went into a fierce face-to-face confrontation with a very senior ISI official after the episode. “He accused me of everything, anti-Pakistan, anti-army, anti-everything.”
“With the top brass apoplectic, high-level government officials warned Sethi his name had been circulated on a hit list. A kidnapping plot, he was told, had been hatched involving two militant groups with links to the ISI,” the website reports.
Sethi said: “In thirty years of English journalism, I got maybe three threats. But in three years in television I get one or two threats every day.”
