In a recently published book, “Spies Against Armageddon: Inside Israel’s Secret Wars”, the authors Dan Raviv and Yossi Melman give the most authoritative and detailed account of the Israel’s foreign intelligence agency – the Mossad.
In one chapter, they talk about how the Mossad is working inside Iran to prevent it from becoming a nuclear nation.
They write that despite the popular belief that the Mossad hires Iranian dissidents to carry out sabotage and assassinations inside Iran, a closer examination towards the killings reveal that the assassins inside Iran are Israelis.
They Mosasd, the authors say, has a special operations unit – a kind of Mossad within the Mossad – called Kidon, which include the cream of the agency.
With the ability of speaking Arabic and Persian like a native speaker, Israeli operatives have travelled into Iran using the passports of other countries, including bogus documents produced by skilled Mossad forgers.
The Kidon office is not inside the Mossad headquarters, and its members often identify themselves with two, three or sometimes with four and five names.
