Islamabad: A high level meeting of the PPP-led coalition parties, presided by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, is underway at President House, Islamabad.
Sources said that the meeting would formulate a policy to approve bills on Dual Nationality and Contempt of Court from National Assembly.
The leaders of MQM, PML-Q, ANP, BNP-A and FATA members participated in the meeting.
Two of PPP allies, the Awami National Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional has opposed the proposed amendment to the Constitution to remove ban of dual nationality holders from contesting election.
ANP’s Haji Adeel and Afrasiab Khattak will attend the meeting. Khattak told media on Friday that any decision in this regard would be taken in the interest the country.
It is to mention here that the PML-N, the major opposition party, has also opposed the government’s bill on dual nationality.
The Supreme Court had suspended membership of National Assembly of several politicians, including Rehman Malik and Farahnaz Isfahani.
The court had ruled in Isfahani’s case that she had taken oath that she would hold a gun for the defence of her country US.
