Islamabad: A petition was filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, challenging presidential ordinance of providing legal protection to all legislative and administrative measures taken by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani between April 26 and June 19, the date of his disqualification in contempt case.
President Asif Ali Zardari, through an ordinance, provided legal protection to Gilani’s measures from Apil 26 to June 24 on Sunday.
Shahid Orakzai, the petitioner, said the presidential ordinance was unconstitutional and he could be impeached for taking such an unconstitutional step.
