Paris: In France’s run-off parliamentary election on Sunday, President Francois Hollande’s Socialists have won an absolute majority, estimates suggest.
The OpinionWay poll showed Hollande’s Socialist bloc winning between 295 and 330 seats in the 577-member National Assembly, or lower house of parliament, in the second and final round of voting, Reuters reported.
Initial projections from a first round of voting last Sunday gave the Socialists 283 and 329 seats, with the lower end of that range leaving them short of the 289 seats needed for a majority.
