Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that there was no link between the next general elections and the upcoming budget, adding the elections will be held according to schedule.
Talking to media persons in Islamabad , the premier said that the new province will be created before the next elections.
He said transition of power from the democratically elected government to the next elected government should be smooth and it should not be through any unconstitutional manner.
Referring to the law and order situation in Karachi, the Prime Minister said the city is an economic hub for the country where ‘we cannot afford to have any trouble’. The city should be divided in administrative units and that intelligence was being provided to Sindh government for maintaining peace in the provincial capital, he added.
He said every possible cooperation was being extended to Balochistan government for establishment of law and order in the troubled province.
To a question regarding his resignation, he said the matter of his disqualification came to an end with the speaker’s ruling. “The court referred the matter to the speaker in line with the Constitution and the she came to a decision under the same Constitution,” he asserted.
