Baghdad: The package offered by Iran has caused divisions among the members of the P5+1 group in their current talks.
The group, comprised of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council—Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States—plus Germany is holding talks with the Iranian delegation in Baghdad on Tehran’s future cooperation with the group, Press TV reported.
Tehran offered the package on Wednesday in the first session of the talks.
Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili has been meeting Catherine Ashton, EU foreign policy chief, as part of the talks.
Iranian team is now holding separate bilateral talks with the Chinese delegation, while more talks with the group will be held Thursday, sources told Press TV.
The recent negotiations in Baghdad came after Iran’s successful talks with the group last month in Istanbul.
The two sides had previously held two rounds of talks, one in Geneva in December 2010 and another in Istanbul in January 2011.
