Peshawar: A United State (US) national of Afghan origin was arrested from the Peshawar Cantonment area and booked under 14 Foreign Act for not possessing valid entry documents to Pakistan, here on Wednesday.
The sources said that the arrested, identified as Ashraf Muhammad Yaseen son of Yaseen Ahmed, was carrying a US passport and was roaming around in suspicious circumstances near the CSD stores in the army area when arrested by the police.
The Gharbi Police station has booked the Afghan-American under 14 Foreign Act for illegal stay and entry into Pakistan and not possessing valid visa documents as he could not provide it during the investigation, after which he was arrested.
Ashraf’s birth place in the passport has been mentioned as Afghanistan and the passport has been issued by the Charleston Passport Center on February 27, 2004 and is valid up to February 26 2014.
After an order from the ministry of interior, all foreign nationals must get a no objection certificate from it for coming to the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and must have a valid visa documents for the areas they are visiting.
A number of US nationals had been held and returned from Peshawar’s motorway and the airport and send back to Islamabad for failing to present the NOC or the valid entry documents.
Official sources said that the presence of the US national near the sensitive military offices was the main concern for which the man was investigated and arrested, after he failed to satisfy the authorities.
