Chicago: US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has said that allies have been fighting with a organize enemy that still has safe havens in Pakistan.
Panetta said that Taliban were a big challenge and fighting despite being weakened. He said he understood although level of violence had shrunk, Taliban could still launch attacks.
Panetta said that there was some progress on talks with Pakistan regarding resumption of Nato supplies. He said President Asif Ali Zardari’s participation in Nato conference was a positive sign.
He it was necessary to reopen transport and communication lines for troops fighting in Afghanistan.
