Islamabad: Responding back to harsh criticism by Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan, leading Pakistan scientist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand says Dr. Qadir is angry at him due to Chagai nuclear explosion in 1998.
In an interview, Dr. AQ Khan commented about ineligibility of Dr. Samar Mubarakmand in operating Thar Coal Project, saying Dr. Mubarmand was only befooling the nation.
“I respect Dr. Khan but he should tell that how have I committed intellectual dishonesty about Thar Coal Project,” Dr. Mubarakmand commented.
He says whatever role Dr. Abdul Qadir had played nuclear proliferation was devastating for Pakistan.
“The outcome is obvious to all of us that Pakistan is still paying the price while on the other hand United States is making deal on Peaceful Nuclear Technology.”
About a query of flaming gas from the coal reservoir in Thar, he was of the opinion that to produce electricity from coal gas fund would be required to set up power generation plant.
“We have proved that gas could be produced from the coal, but now we need plant to generate power as we have left with no funds to do so,” he added.
“Over six channels have made documentaries over flaming gas from coal wells and a tens of thousands of people would have seen them.
” “Those who are opposing this project are actually not harming me but making damage to Pakistan.”
“If Thar coal project was started a couple of years back then today Pakistan is independent of export oil to generate power.”
