Lahore: Students from poor families are likely to get free education and a monthly stipend of Rs. 200 hopefully benefiting ratio of literacy in Pakistan.
To provide free of cost education till matriculation to children from poor families of Pakistan, World Bank has provided $150 million.
The funds have been handed to Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) which would cover education fee, free books and uniforms to the students in addition to Rs. 200 monthly stipend.
A poor family can get its three children educated free of cost while expense for the rest would be on the family.
BISP was started in 2008 aimed at giving Rs. 1000 monthly to head women of families living below the poverty line.
The program is facilitating 4 million families across the country and so far Rs. 123 billion has been spent on it.
