Dubai: International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Haroon Lorgat has said the Pakistan Premier League T20 competition, if held successfully with the participation of some foreign players, could go a long way in reviving international cricket in Pakistan.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf and chief operating officer Subhan Ahmed along with the PCB legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi called on the ICC chief and other officials last week and briefed them over the postponement of the Bangladesh’s tour to Pakistan.
While expressing sympathies with the PCB over the tour postponement, the ICC officials made it clear that the cricket’s governing body cannot interfere in any bilateral arrangement between two member nations.
The PCB officials also apprised the ICC about their plans for the Pakistan Premier League T20 competition. “The ICC officials agreed that the PPL, if held successfully with the participation of some foreign players, could go a long way in reviving international cricket in Pakistan,” an official said.
