Karachi: University of Karachi conducted the aptitude test for admissions in the MPhil/PhD/MS/MD programmes 2012, yesterday on 6th May 2012, in which around 3000 candidates appeared for admission against around 1040 seats in various faculties of KU.
The test was conducted in a conducive environment, Vice Chancellor, KU; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar visited all the faculties and appreciated the arrangements. In the faculty of Science 1112 candidates took the test for 386 seats, in the Faculty of Arts 610 appeared for 260 seats, in Islamic Studies 200 appeared for 55 seats, Medicine 210 for 20 seats, Management and Administrative Sciences 268 for 45 seats and in the faculty of Pharmacy 118 candidates appeared for admission against 15 seats.
Convener Post Graduate Admission Committee Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi along with Prof. Dr. Abuzar Wajidi and other deans kept roaming around the test venue, to monitor the transparency during the test. Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Ghazala Rizwani, Prof. Dr. Nusrat Jameel, Dr. S.M. Abbas remained in their faculties all the time and administered the test.
List of successful candidates will be displayed, today on 7th May 2012, on the University’s website and departmental notice boards. Those who have passed the test are advised to appear for interview in their respective departments on 24th May 2012.
It is note worthy that for admission in MPhil Programme, candidates have to write a one-page research proposal on the spot and a two-page proposal for admission in PhD Program. For a satisfactory law and order situation, Vice Chancellor had given special instructions to the Advisor Security Affairs, Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi. As a result of which any unfortunate incident could not take place. Moreover, admission test for the faculty of Law will be conducted on May 13th 2012 in the Arts Auditorium, KU.
