Karachi: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said that the government has fulfilled its promise to clear Lyari from the criminals.
Talking to media in Karachi on Sunday, Malik said that criminals would not be allowed to make the Lyari hostage. He said President Asif Ali Zardari was worried about the situation of Lyari, adding that the president and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have ordered the release of funds for the area.
“Rangers and Police have been directed to provide compensation to the people of Lyari,” he said.
He added that they had not launched operation in the whole Lyari, adding that the operation was launched in few streets of the area. “We will take every step for the safety of the masses,” he said.
The interior minister said people had not failed in Lyari, adding that targeted action would remain continue in the city including Lyari.
Replying to query, he said the criminals could not take guise of any political party. He added that he think PML-N had some intelligent men like Ishaq Dar who would guide Nawaz Sharif to not to take Uzair Baloch and other criminals in their party.
He said he did not know Uzair Baloch, adding that he (Uzair) would be provided justice if he face the cases.
