Karachi: Malik Muhammad Khan ex Naib Nazim of Lyari town and office bearer of the Pakistan People’s Party was gunned down when he was leading a rally against the Supreme Court of Pakistan for convicting Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday.
Khan, a Seraiki from Mianwali, sustained multiple shots and succumbed to his injures in Civil Hospital Karachi.
Sources attributed the killing of Khan with the internal rift within the PPP in violence-stricken Lyari neighbourhood of Karachi.
Khan whose mother tongue was Seraiki would also fluently speak Balochi. He belonged to Kalri, some 40 kilometer from Mianwali district, and two kilometer from Namal University established by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
Malik Muhammad Khan’s land cruiser was carrying registration number Lyari:1. He was considered to be a close aide of PPP lawmaker Nabil Gabol.
It is to mention here that ex Lyari Nazim Malik Muhammad Fayaz also hailed from Mianwali.
Positions of Khan and Fayaz in PPP Lyari have been reflection of harmony between the communities leaving in Lyari.
So far, no leader of the PPP including Nabil Gabol have expressed condolence with the bereaved family.
