Lahore: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) termed the recent power hike of Rs2.38 per unit by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) ‘outrageous’.
NEPRA approved rise of Rs 0.59 per unit for February 2012 and Rs 1.79 per unit for March 2012, putting the overall increase at Rs2.38 per unit against the two months in terms of fuel adjustment charges.
“The present government is determined to make it impossible for the ordinary Pakistani to survive. The government has done nothing but enhance the misery of the public by announcing price hikes in electricity, gas and petroleum products to finance their own exorbitant expenditures,” the party said in a statement.
The State Bank of Pakistan has already stated that the economy has shrunk and will not be able to achieve its growth target of four per cent.
