California: As social media is changing social scenario of the societies across the world, Facebook comment is now being used as birthday card to wish friends and relatives.
Everyday you can seen a ticker on right side of you Facebook page informing you about whose birthday is today.
After hitting the name, you can go to that person’s page and wish him or her birthday day. But question arises is that if this growing trend could replace personal touch of sending cards or not.
People have different opinions on the issue when a Facebook poll was conducted by Vodafone UK. Some in favor and some against!
“If is then i’m getting more b-day cards every year woohoo,” said Craig Smartie Hart with a laugh.
Karen McCoy viewed that Happy St Georges Day still send ‘real’ cards, but (I) do comment on Facebook too.
Barry Allman commenting on the issue said that “still like cards though . both are nice …”
Ryan Walker in a cherish mood commented “Sent two cards moments before this post (If the comment is replacing real cards).”
The people against the growing trend have to say:
“No not really, its just an excuse to be tight and not spend under a quid on a card!” said Claire Grigg.
Amanda Easton says “see I only do real cards to family and close friends but FB is good because you find out everyone wishing you a happy birthday.”
“Still prefer a card. Its more personal,” commented Tracy Thomas on the issue.
The growing trend of Facebook wishing is also considered as a threat to publishing industry for cards.
But still it could take some time to paint a clear picture over the issue: whether Facebook comment will replace traditional cards or not!
