Karachi: Government of Sindh has lifted ban on pillion riding in Karachi, a metropoliton of Pakistan, sources said on Friday.
Home Minister Sindh Manzoor Wasan said that the ban was imposed on the request of Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police in order to improve the law and order situation in the city.
“The ban has been lifted because it didn’t help in improving the violent situation in the city,” he added.
At least 16 people were killed last night while a CCTV footage of M.A Jinnah road area of Karachi showed that miscreants on pillion riding opened fire on people instead of the ban.
The ban has been imposed 12 days earlier on April 8 as the city faces the worst violence in history.
