Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam- Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on President Asif Ali Zardari after the latter telephoned the former to join him at lunch on Wednesday.
According to media reports, the president appealed to the Maulana to end the boycott of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) tasked with preparing recommendations on fresh term of engagement with the Unites States.
The reports said that the Maulana apprised the president of his reservations over the proposed bill on domestic violence.
A private television claimed that the JUI-F would attend the next meeting of the PCNS that is scheduled on Thursday, ending its boycott.
However, other reports suggested that Fazlur Rehman told the president that he would put the matter before the Shura of his party.
On Tuesday, US Ambassador Cameron Munter called on the Maulana to discuss issues related to regional situation, especially with regard to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
