Islamabad: A local judge on Monday announced punishment for three widows and 2 daughters of late al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden for illegally living in Pakistan.
The senior civil judge during a jail trial punished the family with 45-day confinement and Rs10,000 fineĀ each member.
The trial was conducted at a heavily guarded local house in Islamabad. The residence was declared sub-jail by the government.
Defence counsel said that the family had paid fine while they would undergo confinement of 2-weeks.
Osama bin Laden was killed by US Marine Commandos in AbbottabadĀ on May 2. His widows Khairia Hussain Sabir, Soham Sharif and Amal al-Sadda and daughters Sumyya, Maryam and Khadija were detained from the walled compound by the Pakistani forces.
