Islamabad: Pakistan Law Enforcement agencies have termed new 7-storey building of United States Embassy in Diplomatic Enclave in the capital city of Islamabad a security risk.
The new building US embassy is being built at the cost of Rs. 1.70 billion for which Capital Development Authority, official body to look after capital’s infrastructure, has already given permission.
The construction work on the building has started.
“From new highrise US embassy building, high-security buildings like the presidency, the prime minster house, parliament house and others could be covered,” the officials said expressing concerns of the building height.
“It has already been decided no building would not have more than 4-floor in the diplomatic enclave. Out of the way changes have been made in rules and regulations to allow 7-storey building.”
The issue is now forwarded to Foreign Ministry to take up the issue with US officials.
