Lahore: Pakistan Railways (PR) has approved an increase of 15 to 20 percent in ticket fairs from Thursday triggering a countrywide protest over decision.
The decision came amid uproar over decline in number of railway engines and trains from every walk of the life.
According to PR officials, a bail out package had been demanded but it was not approved by the federal government.
“In order to maintain expenses, the railways has to increase fair for which the government has granted permission.”
According to the notification issued, fair of passenger trains has been increased by 15 percent while of express trains has been raised by 20 percent.
