Buenos Aires: Scores of people were injured as fans clashed with police after a game between relegation threatened Chacarita and Atlanta in Argentine second-flight soccer division.
The riots erupted in San Martin, north of Buenos Aires, Xinhua reported.
According to police sources, officials of Atlanta club were stuck in the stadium after being surrounded by Chacarita fans.
After a 1-1 tie, rioters set a couple of squad cars on fire. Furious fans went after policemen who fired tear gas and rubber bullets.
Some fans attacked Fernando Rapallini, the referee. The clashes spread to the streets outside until riot police established some control.
