Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved verdict in contempt of court case against former law minister and senior PPP leader Babar Awan.
The ruling would be announced on March 8.
A division bench of the apex court headed by Justice Ijaz Afzal resumed hearing into the case. During the hearing video of Awan’s press conference, in which he had criticized the SC, was also played.
Awan counsel Ali Zafar contended that his client did not intend to ridicule the court. Justice Afzal remarked that Babar Awan did not apologise instead he only regretted. He said that Awan had ridiculed the court during the press conference.
Later on, Talking to media after the hearing Awan’s counsel expressed the hope that the court would not punish his client.
