Islamabad: The National Assembly of Pakistan has unanimously approved the 20th Constitutional Bill here on Tuesday.
The bill was tabled by Law Minister Maula Bakhsh Chandio. The bill was passed unanimously by 245 members out of 342 and not a single member casted a vote in against of the bill.
The amended bill was meant to protect the 28 lawmakers elected in by-polls after the passage of 18 Amendment after being questioned the legal status by the Supreme Court of Pakistan
Now the bill would be sent to the Senate for approval and then it would be part of the constitution.
Earlier today, the Federal Cabinet approved the draft of the bill in an special meeting.
The two main parties of the country, Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) endorsed the bill after long dialogue for around couple of weeks.
