Abu Dhabi: With the help of great century by captain Alastair Cook, England made 260-runs in 50 overs in the first one-day international match against Pakistan at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium here on Monday.
England choosed to bat first after winning the toss. Cook with Kevin Pietersen made a good opening partnership of 57 but Shahid Afridi provided Pakistan a double breakthrough in two continues delivery of Pietersen and Jonathan Trott.
Ravi Bopara, second highest scorer for the England who scored 50 runs composed a 131-run partnership with his captain for the third wicket and provided a solid platform to cross 300. But hero of the test series, Saeed Ajmal with his five-for restrained England to 260-runs.
England lost seven wickets and all the wickets taken by spinners and fast bowlers failed to pick any wicket.
